About the role
Oak View Group is hiring a part-time Ice Maintenance Technician at the Rio Rancho Events Center, the 7,000-seat arena near Albuquerque that is home to the New Mexico Ice Wolves of the NAHL. Oak View Group manages the building, which also hosts basketball, indoor football, rodeos, concerts, and trade shows.
The technician looks after the ice sheet. You keep the surface in good shape during events, open and close the rink on schedule, and help install and remove the ice when the floor changes over. You work with the facilities team to keep ice conditions right for every ice event.
The job also covers repairs to rink equipment: the Zamboni, the dasher boards, the subfloor, tempered and acrylic glass, safety netting, Jet Ice systems, edgers, and goal nets. Between events you help the operations crew with building conversions.
The posting lists pay of $17 to $21 an hour, with a 401(k) plan and match for part-time staff. Hours are long and irregular and include nights, weekends, and holidays. The posting stays open until December 31, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Keep the ice sheet in good condition during events and on schedule
- Open and close the rink on time each day
- Help with ice installation and removal when the arena changes over
- Repair rink equipment such as the Zamboni, dasher boards, glass, netting, edgers, and goal nets
- Work with the facilities team on ice conditions for every ice event
- Help the operations crew finish event conversions quickly
Requirements
- Experience in ice rink maintenance, conversions, or a hockey facility is preferred
- Able to drive a Zamboni ice resurfacer is preferred
- A solid understanding of OSHA rules
- Comfortable working in very cold or very hot conditions for long periods
- Able to follow spoken and written instructions and building policies
- Available for long, irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
