About the role

Buffalo State University, part of the State University of New York system, is hiring a manager for its on-campus ice rink. The job sits in the Intercollegiate Athletics department and covers everything that keeps the rink running for the varsity teams and the outside groups that rent ice.

On the ice side you install and maintain the sheet, drive and service the Zamboni or Olympia, sharpen skates, and schedule locker rooms. You also run varsity game management and supervise the student workers who staff the building.

The business side matters too. You recruit outside rental groups, write their contracts, and invoice them. Once the ice comes out for the off-season, you look for other ways the facility can earn money and help oversee the rest of the university's athletic facilities.

Buffalo State asks for prior experience supervising an ice rink and maintaining ice, including driving a resurfacing machine, and a schedule that bends around mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. A bachelor's degree is preferred. The role is full time with a salary of $65,000, and the university plans to hire on 3 December 2026.
