About the role
The Florida Panthers are hiring a full-time building engineer for the Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs, the club's community rink. The job sits in the facilities and engineering team and reports to the Operations Manager.
Most of the work is keeping the building's systems running: HVAC, plumbing, mechanical equipment, and the ice plant and refrigeration that keep the rinks frozen. You walk regular rounds, fix minor problems, carry out preventive maintenance, and close out work orders with notes on what was done.
You also watch the building automation system for alarms, set up building systems for events, public skates, and hockey programs, and lend a hand to the electrical, painting, and general maintenance crews. Anything beyond a basic fix on the refrigeration side goes up to senior engineering staff.
The role is hourly, year round, and on site. Shifts follow the rink's program and event calendar, so evenings, weekends, and holidays are part of it. Expect cold rink areas and time in mechanical rooms.
Responsibilities
- Walk routine inspection rounds of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Monitor the ice plant compressors, pumps, and controls and report problems to senior engineers
- Answer basic HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical service calls and make minor repairs
- Complete assigned work orders and record the maintenance done
- Set up and break down building systems for events, public skates, and hockey programs
- Watch the building automation system and pass alarms to a supervisor
- Follow lockout and tagout procedures on mechanical and electrical equipment
Requirements
- One to three years or more in building engineering, facility maintenance, or a mechanical trade
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and general mechanical systems
- Refrigeration or ice plant experience is a plus but not required
- Able to read work orders, equipment manuals, and safety data sheets
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and climb, bend, and kneel regularly
- High school diploma or equivalent and a clean background check
