About the role
The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Department is hiring part-time hockey officials for its adult hockey league at the Stephen C. West Ice Arena. You do not need an officiating certification to apply, but you do need to skate well and know USA Hockey rules.
On game nights you referee adult league games under USA Hockey and town league rules: calling penalties, checking the ice and equipment before play, handling disputes calmly, and reviewing score sheets. Between games the job takes in other recreation work such as setting up programs and equipment, light maintenance, registration and cash handling, and enforcing facility rules.
Shifts are mostly Sunday to Friday evenings from 5 p.m. to midnight, with the occasional early morning, weekend, or holiday. The role is part time and year round.
The town asks for applicants who are 18 or older, skate well, know USA Hockey rules from playing or working, and have at least a year of customer service experience. CPR, AED, first aid, and Preventing Disease Transmission certificates are needed within 60 days of hire. Officiating experience and high school or club playing experience are preferred. The typical hiring range is $20.50 to $21.75 an hour, and staff get a free recreation center pass, paid time off, and access to seasonal staff housing for rent. The posting stays open until filled.
