About the role
Oak View Group is hiring part-time operations crew for the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell, a 7,000 seat arena that is home to UMass Lowell Division I men's hockey, the university's basketball teams, and the Boston Fleet of the PWHL. The building also hosts concerts, family shows, graduations, and conferences.
The crew does the physical work that turns the arena from one event to the next. The main job is conversions: covering the ice with a temporary floor, setting up and taking down stages, and putting out seating, tables, dasher boards, and glass before games and events.
Between events the crew repairs and cleans equipment, keeps the storage areas organized, and clears snow from sidewalks, parking areas, entrances, and loading docks. Shifts fall on days, nights, and weekends, and overnight work is common.
OVG states a rate of $18.75 an hour, and part-time staff can join the 401(k) plan with matching. The posting stays open until December 31, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Convert the arena between hockey, basketball, concerts, and other events
- Lay and remove the temporary floor that covers the ice surface
- Set up and take down stages, seating, tables, dasher boards, and glass
- Lift, move, and secure heavy equipment during changeovers
- Clean, repair, and store arena equipment and keep storage areas in order
- Shovel snow from sidewalks, parking areas, entrances, and loading docks
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Available for days, nights, and weekends, including regular overnight shifts
- Able to lift heavy objects without help and climb stairs often
- Steel-toe boots for every shift
- Experience with event conversions, general labor, or facility maintenance is a plus
