About the role
The Park District of Oak Park, Illinois, is hiring a full-time Hockey Program Supervisor for the ice arena at the Ridgeland Common Recreation Complex. The supervisor plans and grows every hockey program the district runs: hockey camps, Hockey Academy, adult hockey, travel hockey, drop-in sessions, skills clinics, and events at the rink.
You hire, train, schedule, and supervise the program staff, including hockey instructors and volunteer coaches, and you run payroll for them. You keep the volunteer coaching program in line with USA Hockey rules and the travel hockey conference, tracking coaches' certifications and training. You also look after the district's skates and the loaner equipment program.
The office side covers program budgets and cost recovery targets, purchasing, registrations and refunds in the Amelia system, attendance records, and an annual participation report. You work with the facility, maintenance, and customer service supervisors so the rink is ready for every program, and you help with district events such as the ice show and Winter Fest.
The posting asks for a bachelor's degree in recreation or a related field, two years at an ice arena in hockey or figure skating, two years in parks and recreation, and two years supervising staff. You will need to earn the Certified Park and Recreation Professional credential within a year. The schedule includes Monday and Wednesday evenings and Sunday daytimes. Pay starts at $51,309 to $61,000 a year, with medical, dental, and vision cover and an IMRF pension.
